i want to be nice and shit bc i'm pretty sure you sent this to the wrong number and i mean maybe this pos does frequent drug addicted whores (i prefer the term prostitutes and i don't actually need to pay for sex, but that's just me you see) but fucking christ do you kiss your mom with that mouth
[ You don't have to worry for me hits her in a way she didn't expect but that combined with what happened with her aunt and the lackluster response from him just now... it firms up what her heart is telling her.
Now that her aunt saw them together, this is over. He doesn't want this anymore. It's not worth the risk, the risk he sees it as.]
[ The morning after her drunk confession session, Charlie woke up with a bastard of a hangover and a hell of a mood about the way things got left. Even in the light of day ( so fucking bright), she was frustrated that he just ran away from what she'd told him.
Okay, yes, she was drunk but the least he could have done was stay with her! She would have done the same! And she'd laid herself bare in a sense and he'd just... zapped away at the first chance he could.
So after stuffing her face with as much greasy food and water as she could manage and after a long shower, she shelped over to his apartment. And even if at the moment she was pissed off at him, she was careful not t be seen, even as she knocked at his door.]
[ It only took a second for him to look at who was on the other side of the door when he heard a knock, to open it and pull Charlie inside, less gentle than he would want it to be.
He softens it with a smile as he closes the door, raising an eyebrow. ]
Hey. Feeling better? I've got some leftover spring rolls if you want.
[ Basically yoinked into the apartment, she doesn't have the time to complain or even looked shocked when he offers her food and asks after her. The whiplash feels real and she thinks, for a brief moment, this must be how he feels sometimes.]
It was finally the day. Charlie's time at Mythian Academy had come to an uneventful close. She managed to survive attacks on the school, the threat of being were-napped and most of all, she managed to survive high school with a solid A- grade.
And as much as she was going to miss her little brother, as much as the idea of a life outside of the well-worn, well-known path that had been set for her (the one she'd been following until she threw her hat up in the air and clutched her diploma to her chest), she was even more giddy for the future.
Her senior year hadn't exactly been a dream. Secretly dating your teacher isn't exactly ideal. It meant going solo to prom, it meant lying to some of her closest friends about what she was doing. With every passing day, it got more difficult and for a while, it had been worth it. She was in love with him. But when the honeymoon phase wore off, she saw the truth of it as clearly as Z had. She couldn't handle not being public with it. She couldn't handle the way it made her cut herself off from the rest of her life. And combined with his fear/paranoia of being caught became too much for both of them.
Breaking things off, taking time apart was the only answer. Maybe there was a future for them, maybe there wasn't. But even after three months apart, Charlie still pined for Z. She tried dating other people but it never went anywhere. She got the rest of her life back, her confidence and general swagger too but there was still a part of her heart that was missing and it was still firmly in his hands.
So as she snatches her cap off the ground from where it landed, she glances up, her gaze catching his from across the room. She throws him a crooked, silly smile as she offers him sheepish sort of wave.
There'd been a plan. From the get-go, Z had known - his relationship with Charlie was a doomed one, and yet he'd been unable to help himself. He'd fallen straight down the rabbit hole and he'd fallen hard in love with her, and he still didn't regret it. But.
But there'd been the constant fighting, and the indecision, and the pressure, and the paranoia. All of it had become too much, after a while, and even loving her didn't feel like enough. He couldn't give her what she needed. What she wanted. So they broke up. Which had felt like hell - he'd wandered the school halls like a ghost for weeks, unable to sleep, unwilling to smile. He'd been completely unable to let it go, to let Charlie go.
He had to make a choice, and he had to make a plan. For a guy like him, plans came easy, and putting them together, once he was set, was even simpler. Which was why leaving Mythian behind didn't actually feel like a loss. As glad as he was for the opportunity the school gave him, he had plenty more outside of it, too, and nothing to stop him, now. So he'd handed in his resignation, effective immediately, just a few short days before graduation. He didn't have any classes anymore, wasn't holding anyone up, and it was time to move on.
It was time to give Charlie his everything, if she'd still have him. Which is why, when she waves at him from the other side of the room, he crosses the space between them, practically jogging to her, stopping just feet away, looking down at her.
"Congratulations," he says, softly, before reaching out, a hand framing her cheek gently, and leaning down into a kiss, more tentative than he'd like, more public than he's ever done. He might be too late, it might all be too late, but... He might as well try.
It was a hard lesson to learn for anyone but especially at her young age: love doesn't fix or cure everything. She loved him, oh how she loved him. But it wasn't enough to make the rest of it okay, their problems, the things that put a chasm between them. It was awful and she didn't do any better than he did afterward, especially since she definitely went into a spiral of drugs and drinking and careless sex.
She'd snapped out of it eventually, her heart started to mend even if she pined over him. She'd been lucky that she wasn't in his class the last semester of school because that would have been way too painful. They'd been apart for months but every time she saw him, she felt that pull, that ache. And now the one thing that had torn them apart was gone.
She wasn't his student anymore and she didn't know how to handle it. So she waved at him, like an idiot. Then it was something straight out of a movie. He moved towards her, spoke words she barely had a chance to process or hear before he kisses her.
He's kissing her. In public. In front of... people. Anyone can see it. Everyone can see it. For a moment, in her shock, she holds still. However, after the span of a breath, her hands move to his face and she pulls him closer to her, body arching up towards his in a way that's achingly familiar, her heart soaring.

[ And he is. For Charlie, but also for the school in general. The idea of losing anyone was... terrifying, really. ]
